Ingredients

  • 2 slices thick-cut bread
  • 2 tbsp butter, softened
  • 2 slices deli ham
  • 2 slices cheddar or Swiss cheese
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)
  • 1 tsp mayonnaise (optional, for extra crispiness)

Instructions

  • Preheat air fryer to 375°F for 3 minutes.
  • Butter one side of each bread slice evenly, reaching all the edges.
  • Place one slice butter-side down. Spread Dijon mustard if using, then layer cheese, ham, and remaining cheese.
  • Top with second slice of bread, butter-side up. Spread mayonnaise on top if desired.
  • Place toastie in air fryer basket. Cook 4 minutes, flip carefully, then cook 3–4 minutes until golden and cheese is melted.
  • Rest for 1 minute, slice, and serve hot.

Notes

Let the toastie rest for 1 minute before slicing to prevent the cheese from spilling out. Best enjoyed fresh from the air fryer.
