Ingredients

  • 24 cherry tomatoes
  • 24 fresh mozzarella balls (ciliegine)
  • 24 fresh basil leaves
  • 0.25 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 tbsp balsamic glaze
  • flaky sea salt, to taste
  • freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
  • 24 small wooden skewers or cocktail picks
  • 1 clove garlic, minced (optional)

Instructions

  • Drain the mozzarella balls and pat them dry with paper towels.
  • Wash and thoroughly dry the cherry tomatoes and basil leaves.
  • Assemble skewers by threading a folded basil leaf, one mozzarella ball, and one cherry tomato.
  • Arrange the assembled skewers neatly on a serving platter.
  • Whisk together olive oil, balsamic glaze, and garlic if using. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
  • Drizzle the dressing generously over the skewers just before serving.
  • Finish with flaky sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper.
  • Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to 2 hours, allowing skewers to come to room temperature before serving.

Notes

Use room-temperature ingredients for best flavor. Assemble up to 4 hours ahead, but drizzle with oil and balsamic just before serving. These are best enjoyed slightly cool or at room temperature.
