Classic Green Bean Casserole

A classic holiday side dish, this green bean casserole combines tender green beans with a creamy mushroom sauce and crispy fried onions. It’s a comforting favorite that belongs on every Thanksgiving and Christmas table.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cans (14.5 oz) green beans, drained
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 1.5 cups crispy fried onions, divided

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, and pepper.
  3. Stir in the drained green beans and 2/3 cup of crispy fried onions.
  4. Transfer mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
  5. Bake uncovered for 25 minutes until hot and bubbly.
  6. Top with the remaining fried onions and bake for an additional 5–10 minutes until golden.

Notes

For a fresher taste, use blanched fresh green beans instead of canned. Add a pinch of garlic powder or shredded cheese to the sauce for extra flavor. This casserole can be assembled ahead of time and baked just before serving.
