Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 2 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 oz) pinto beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup beef broth

Instructions

  • In a large pot over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
  • Add diced onion and garlic to the pot. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute to bloom the spices.
  • Add tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, kidney beans, pinto beans, and beef broth. Stir to combine.
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 20–30 minutes. Stir occasionally.

Notes

Customize with your favorite toppings like shredded cheese, sour cream, or diced green onions. This chili also works great as a topping for baked potatoes or chili dogs!
