Equipment

  • Crockpot / Slow Cooker
  • mixing bowl
  • measuring cups and spoons
  • two forks (for shredding)

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 0.5 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 0.5 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  • Place the chicken breasts in the crockpot.
  • In a bowl, mix together the barbecue sauce, chicken broth, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken in the crockpot.
  • Cover and cook on low for 4–6 hours, or until the chicken is tender and cooked through.
  • Shred the chicken with two forks directly in the crockpot and stir it into the sauce.
  • Serve hot on buns, tacos, or over rice.

Notes

Use your favorite barbecue sauce for best results — smoky, sweet, or spicy. Shred the chicken directly in the slow cooker for maximum flavor. Leftovers keep well in the fridge and taste even better the next day. Great for meal prep or potlucks!
