Ingredients

  • 1 box brownie mix (plus ingredients listed on package)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Equipment

  • 9x9-inch baking pan
  • mixing bowls
  • electric mixer or whisk
  • measuring cups and spoons
  • knife (for swirling)
  • spatula

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9x9-inch baking pan.
  2. Prepare the brownie batter according to package directions and pour into the prepared pan.
  3. In a medium bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, egg, and vanilla until smooth. Tint with orange gel food coloring.
  4. Dollop the cream cheese mixture on top of the brownie batter. Swirl with a knife to create a marbled effect.
  5. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with only a few moist crumbs.
  6. Cool completely before slicing into squares. Serve chilled or at room temperature.

Notes

Cool the brownies completely before cutting to get clean slices. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. For extra Halloween flair, top with candy eyeballs or sprinkles before baking.
