- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Spread the flour on a baking sheet and bake for 8 minutes, or microwave it for 3 minutes stirring halfway through.
- Allow the flour to cool completely before using.
- Add softened butter, sugar, and vanilla extract to a mixing bowl.
- Beat for about 3 minutes until pale, fluffy, and well combined.
- Add milk, cooled flour, and salt to the bowl.
- Mix on low speed until a smooth dough forms. Do not overmix.
- Fold in the red, white, and blue sprinkles using a rubber spatula.
- Transfer the dough to a serving bowl and top with additional sprinkles if desired.
- Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to 3 days. Let soften at room temperature before serving.
Notes
Always heat-treat the flour before mixing. For a less sprinkle-heavy texture, use 2 tablespoons of sprinkles in the dough and reserve the rest for topping. Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and allow to soften at room temperature for 20–30 minutes before serving.
