Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp white vinegar
- 1 tsp red food coloring (gel preferred)
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar, for rolling
Instructions
- Beat butter and sugar until fluffy.
- Add eggs, vanilla, and vinegar, mixing until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients along with red food coloring until just combined.
- Cover dough and chill for at least 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Scoop dough into 1-inch balls, roll in powdered sugar, and arrange on baking sheets.
- Bake 10–12 minutes until cookies are set and tops are crackled.
- Cool on a rack before serving.
Notes
Chill the dough for at least 1 hour to ensure proper crinkles and prevent spreading. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
