Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp white vinegar
  • 1 tsp red food coloring (gel preferred)
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar, for rolling

Method
 

  1. Beat butter and sugar until fluffy.
  2. Add eggs, vanilla, and vinegar, mixing until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients along with red food coloring until just combined.
  5. Cover dough and chill for at least 1 hour.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  7. Scoop dough into 1-inch balls, roll in powdered sugar, and arrange on baking sheets.
  8. Bake 10–12 minutes until cookies are set and tops are crackled.
  9. Cool on a rack before serving.

Notes

Chill the dough for at least 1 hour to ensure proper crinkles and prevent spreading. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
