Ingredients
  

  • 4 large apples (tart or sweet), peeled and sliced
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar (optional, adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup water or apple juice
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves

Method
 

  1. Peel and slice the apples into thin wedges for even cooking.
  2. Add sliced apples to a medium saucepan with cinnamon, brown sugar, nutmeg, and cloves.
  3. Pour in water or apple juice and stir to coat apples evenly.
  4. Bring mixture to a simmer over medium heat. Cover and cook 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until apples are tender.
  5. Serve warm straight from the pan or transfer to bowls.

Notes

Best served warm. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat gently on the stove.
