- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish.
- Boil sweet potatoes in a large pot until just tender, about 10–12 minutes. Drain well.
- In a mixing bowl, mash the sweet potatoes until mostly smooth.
- Stir in the maple syrup, melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and salt until combined.
- Spread mixture evenly into the greased baking dish. Sprinkle with pecans if using.
- Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes until hot and lightly golden on top.
Notes
For extra flavor, add a sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg before baking. You can also top with pecans or mini marshmallows for a festive holiday touch. This dish can be made ahead and reheated before serving.
