Ingredients

  • 3 lbs sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 0.25 cup pure maple syrup
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar
  • 0.5 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 cup chopped pecans (optional topping)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish.
  • Boil sweet potatoes in a large pot until just tender, about 10–12 minutes. Drain well.
  • In a mixing bowl, mash the sweet potatoes until mostly smooth.
  • Stir in the maple syrup, melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and salt until combined.
  • Spread mixture evenly into the greased baking dish. Sprinkle with pecans if using.
  • Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes until hot and lightly golden on top.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg before baking. You can also top with pecans or mini marshmallows for a festive holiday touch. This dish can be made ahead and reheated before serving.
