- Combine the rice vinegar, water, sugar, soy sauce, garlic, and red pepper flakes in a small saucepan.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Mix cornstarch and water together to form a slurry, then slowly add to the sauce, stirring constantly.
- Continue cooking for 1-2 minutes until sauce has thickened.
- Let cool before using. Store in a sealed jar in the refrigerator.
Notes
You can adjust the spiciness by using fewer or more red pepper flakes. Store in the refrigerator in a sealed jar for up to 1 month. It also freezes well in small portions.
