Equipment

  • peeler and corer
  • knife
  • mixing spoon
  • immersion blender optional, for smooth texture

Ingredients

  • 10 cups apple chunks peeled and cored (use Fuji, Granny Smith, or a mix)
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4–1/3 cup sugar optional, adjust to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon each cinnamon, clove, and/or allspice optional for spiced apple sauce

Instructions

  • Peel, core, and dice the apples into large chunks.
  • Place the apples into the insert of your slow cooker. Add the water and lemon juice.
  • Cook on HIGH for 3 hours.
  • Add sugar and optional spices, stirring to combine and break down the apples further.
  • Continue cooking for one more hour on HIGH, for a total of 4 hours. Stir and mash to your desired consistency, or blend for a smoother texture.
  • Cool completely and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 7–10 days.

Notes

Tips:
• Use a mix of tart and sweet apples for the best flavor balance.
• Adjust sugar to taste — start with less and add more if needed.
• Add spices like cinnamon, clove, and allspice for a cozy fall twist.
• For a chunkier texture, mash by hand; for smooth apple sauce, blend until creamy.
Storage: Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 10 days, or freeze in portions for up to 3 months.
